About Me:

I'm of “a certain age,” much to my surprise.  I answer to “Mom,” “G'ma,” “B.J.,” “FUM (Fine Upstanding Ma),” “Daughter-mine,” “Jo,” “Pooh,” “Teacher,” “Thither” (from little brother Matt, aka Tigger), “Little Sister” (sigh - from big brother Buck, aka Eeyore).

I have always been driven by curiosity, ever since my beginnings in Ozark, Missouri.  Life its ownself is so exciting!  People are interesting and nature is fascinating!  (I know so little about either.)  I have a huge family on my father's side - 17 aunts/uncles plus 14 others by marriage of the former.  Uncountable first cousins and I am close to each and every.

I have an eclectic education - stemming from my curiosity I guess - in everything from acting to biology to psychology.  I've had valuable mentors in all.  I've “paid Caesar” in many jobs since I was fifteen, starting with the awe of being accepted as a page in the Jackson County Public Library (so many BOOKS - a whole world to explore).  Been proud to “pay my freight.”  Now, I'm wondering what's next.

Speaking of loving books, a long time ago I always had a problem selecting just the right one for the time.  I finally resolved the dilemma by smelling each one of the selections in my budget-breaking mountain at the bookstore.  It worked and I walked out without a grocery cart.  Smell has never steered me wrong since, so I taught my voracious reader, FUS (Fine Upstanding Son), to open and sniff.  He attests to the method.  Try it!  (I must tell you - people WILL stare.  Just look them in them eye disdainfully like a New York Times Best Seller critic and keep on whiffing.)

I very much like exploration of all kind.  I've traveled a bit and it has been so very enriching.  Learning something new each day is my purpose and has been since I was a puppy.  “First star to the right…”

I have many acquaintances - few friends.  Those I have and have had - enriching acquaintances and dear friends - are precious to me.
